What is the Swinburne Student Association (SSA)?
The Swinburne Student Association (SSA) is the new student-led organisation at Swinburne, bringing together student services and representation under one unified body. It combines the previous Swinburne Student Union (SSU) and Swinburne Student Life (SSL) into a Single Student Body, overseeing key areas such as Advocacy, Clubs & Societies, Sports, Student Wellbeing, and Student Leadership, ensuring that all students have access to essential services, support, and engagement opportunities.
Who can join SSA, and is there a membership fee?
Everyone can join SSA, there is no membership fee. All you need is to sign up an account with us.
Where is the SSA reception located?
Our reception is located at GS Building, Level 1, Wakefield St, Hawthorn, VIC 3122
Can international students participate in SSA leadership roles?
Yes! SSA leadership roles are open to all students, including international students. If you're keen to lead, represent, and make a difference, we’d love to have you on board!
How often will SSA representatives be elected?
SSA representatives will be elected annually, giving students a chance to regularly choose who represents them and keeps things fresh, fair, and student-driven.
What support and services will SSA provide to students?
SSA will cover everything you need to thrive at uni—from advocacy and academic support to clubs, sports, wellbeing services, and leadership programs. Check out our Support and Services page on the website.
How will SSA handle student advocacy and support?
SSA provides free, confidential advocacy to help students navigate university policies and procedures. Our experienced Advocates can assess your situation, explore your options, help draft responses, and even accompany you to meetings or hearings. How can I book SSA spaces or access their resources?
You can make your bookings on our website under Services > Resource Booker.
How can students provide feedback or request new services from SSA?
We’re all about student input! Got an idea or something you’d love to see at Swinburne? Hit us up via the "Get in Touch" section on our website—we’re always keen to hear from you.
Does SSA offer volunteering opportunities? How can I become a volunteer?

How can I find out about upcoming SSA events?
It’s easy! Just head to our website, click on Activities, then Events, and you’ll find all the info you need on what’s happening next.
What kind of events does SSA organise, and how can I participate?
SSA runs all kinds of events for every student community—queer meetups, women’s networking, cultural festivalss, social hangouts, and more. No matter your vibe, there’s something for you! To join in, just create an account and book your event through our website.
Will SSA provide support for LGBTQIA+ students at Swinburne?
